Reznor's Irritation with Keenan
February 14,

Trent Reznor is putting the finishing touches on project he’s been working on for years. The new project, called Tapeworm, has had it’s share of publicity since it’s inception, and now it seems it will finally come to fruition. The yet untitled album will be released sometime in the late fall or early winter of 2001, says a Nothing Records spokesperson. The album features a variety of singers and musicians including Tool/A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan, and has been kept under lock and key by Reznor since the beginning of the writing process. Recently, however, Reznor expressed his frustration concerning Keenan’s “surprise” debut of the song entitled “Vacant,” which was written by guitarist Danny Lohner and arranged by Charlie Clouser, both members of Tapeworm. Keenan’s band A Perfect Circle debuted the song on the opening night of their North American tour on January 31. Reznor posted the following message on the official Nine Inch Nails website: "I find it mildly irritating for ['Vacant'] to debut [live] before feeling it has been properly realized."
