Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor & A Perfect Circle/Tool Leader Maynard Keenan Collaborate On Side-Project

Tapeworm, the long awaited side-project collaboration between members of A Perfect Circle/Tool and Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor, is finally nearing completion. The project is being spearheaded by Reznor and Maynard James Keenan (APC/Tool frontman) along with programmer/remixer Charlie Clouser and guitarist Danny Lohner and began in 1999 with the song "Vacant." The tune is sung by Keenan, who is one of the many singers on the as-yet-untitled album, written by Lohner, rearranged by Clouser, and features Reznor on backing vocals. APC have been performing the song in concert during their recent tour, though much to the chagrin of Reznor, who wanted to keep all of the material under wraps until the album's release, scheduled for sometime in the fall. The collaborative studio project is slowly being tracked at Reznor's New Orleans studio and will be released on Nothing Records.

In addition to Tapeworm, Reznor is working on demos for the next NIN album with The Fragile producer Alan Moulder and finishing up a live NIN DVD from their 1999-2000 tour, which was originally intended for release last November.
